FREE DJ WORKSHOPS OFFERED TO FEMALES TO COMBAT GENDER IMBALANCE WITHIN INDUSTRY
The DJ scene in Dundee, Scotland is currently thriving; with many venues opening its doors to make way for new underground club nights.
However, one thing that stands out is the lack of females present within the industry.
In an effort to combat this, a new DJ initiative aimed at females has been created in collaboration with DUSA The Union.
‘Polka Dot Disco Club’ is a new project formed by twin sisters, Frankie Elyse and Jozette, and was set up to encourage and support females within the music scene.
They will be working with DUSA to offer four weeks of free DJ workshops to female students who have never DJed before and who are passionate about music.
The sessions will take place within DUSA The Union on each consecutive Saturday, from 15th February until 7th March.
On Saturday 7th March, with the skills that the new female DJs will have learned, they will each play a set at DUSA’s annual International Women’s Day club night.
Polka Dot Disco Club are looking for females who have little or no prior experience but who are interested in becoming part of this new DJ collective.
Frankie Elyse and Jozette, the founders of Polka Dot Disco Club, said
