Peggy Gou releases debut album 'I Hear You' via XL Recordings
Peggy Gou's Debut Album 'I Hear You' Has Finally Arrived
The artist, producer, DJ, and cultural trailblazer Peggy Gou releases her long-awaited debut album, *I Hear You*, via XL Recordings. One of the most eagerly anticipated debut records in recent years, the ten-track album represents the culmination of years of work by the Korean-born artist, revered as both an underground icon and a global sensation. Peggy Gou has stayed true to her unwavering vision, becoming one of the most sought-after electronic music artists and DJs in the world.
The album features the current single “Lobster Telephone,” a perfect example of the balmy, technicolor house music that Gou is globally renowned for. Packed with highlights, it includes the 2023 chart-topping hit “(It Goes Like) Nanana,” her collaboration with Lenny Kravitz, “I Believe in Love Again,” and the festival anthem “1+1=11,” accompanied by an Olafur Eliasson-directed music video. *I Hear You* showcases Gou stepping into the next level of her artistry, boldly claiming her voice through the kaleidoscopic lens of '90s house music.
Talking about *I Hear You*, Peggy Gou says: “*I Hear You* is more than just my debut album. It embodies countless hours of dedication in my journey to create something timeless and is a testament to the power of listening—to ourselves and to each other.”
2024 has already been a landmark year for Gou. She has graced the covers of Billboard (US), Vogue Germany, and L’Officiel Italia as she gears up for the album's release. This year is also set to be monumental for her live performances. Having played to over a million people in 2023, Gou is scheduled for high-profile appearances at festivals such as Coachella, Ultra, EDC, and Primavera. She will also headline Glastonbury’s Park Stage and perform her biggest headline show to date at London’s Gunnersbury Park on August 17th.
To celebrate the album's release, Peggy Gou will host a pop-up store and album release party in East London. From 12-6 pm, there will be a Peggy Gou pop-up store at 11 Dray Walk, London E1 6NJ, featuring album merchandise, limited edition formats of the album, and free giveaways. Prizes include Lobster Telephones and tickets to her headline show at Gunnersbury Park. In the evening, Peggy will take over the nearby Cafe 1001 for an exclusive album release party, performing alongside Ryan Elliot and Nyra. Tickets have already sold out, but fans may still have a chance to win tickets at the pop-up event.
