When the Music Ends: Short Film Unveils Sexual Harassment in Electronic Music Scene

The short film When the Music Ends boldly confronts the issue of sexual harassment in the electronic music scene, tackling a problem too often hidden in nightlife spaces. Directed by Mo Kanaan and produced by Berlin-based collective Spilled Milk, this five-minute piece amplifies the voices of survivors, breaking the silence surrounding stories that urgently need to be told.

British DJ and producer Rebekah, known for her influence and advocacy, steps up as executive producer, showing her commitment to making the music scene a safer space for everyone. The film takes inspiration from research by the Electronic Music Inclusion Initiative (EMII), which documented a troubling 615 incidents of harassment across 28 countries, ranging from microaggressions to severe physical abuse. Marginalized communities are disproportionately impacted, bringing further urgency to the film’s message.
